FRESH DOPE - SHADOW"S 3 - MARLON D

Marlon D's latest album shadows 3 is song for song his best offering to date.

Its true what they say, you don't  know we're your headed if you forgot we're it all started.
Shadows, arrives a long way from Marlon's humble beginnings with his group the Salty Peanuts, no doubt! However,  It's clear the album stays close to his roots growing up in the budding hip hop scene in Oxnard Ca.

The albums 18 joints takes us through Marlon's journey of trials and tribulations throughout his time in the independent hip hop game.

The single "Top Of The Morning" set the tone for the album prior to it's release with MD reminiscing on his early days as an MC learning from his mistakes to his passion to continue to make his mark in hip hop rapping over a banger prod by John Henry of Shovel & Hammer.

The album shows off  it's  fair share of raw boom-bap joints from the albums "Intro" to the Klutch produced "T-Shirts" and on to the "Cypher" which has Marlon D spitting one of his best bar for bar verses on the project .

MD spits solid bars from the gut throughout the album focusing on telling his story introspectively from life's everyday struggles, ex girlfriends to touching on issues happening in today's world. On "Wrong or Right"  Marlon comes to terms with life's past decisions (rocking over a remixed "This can't be life" by Kanye) then calls his mom at the end of the song to bring a smile and some laughter back to the mood  regardless of the struggle it took to get there.

Many artists aren't willing to deal with the sacrifices of choosing a career in hip hop, but on songs like ...love me or "leave me Alone" Marlon thanks those that have looked out for him while making it clear he is moving forward whether u love him or hate him.

In closing, Marlon sums up his life story in just under 3 minutes which plays as an audio documentary leaving up to the listeners to paint the picture as they see it.

Overall, the good guy wins at the end !
